The Naval Museum of Greece was founded in 1949 and from 1971 housed in the building of the Marina Zea in Freatida in Piraeus.

It is a private entity, public benefit corporation, nonprofit. It is the largest Naval Museum of Greece and outlines the creation, history and development of the Navy of the Greeks from prehistoric times until today.

Aims of the Museum is the search, collection, compilation, maintenance, preservation and exhibition of objects related to the performance of the Greek marine projects from prehistoric times until today. Among the goals of even included the study and documentation of our maritime heritage and general cultivation of young love for the sea, which fulfills the educational mission of the museum.
