Plastiras Lake is one of the most important destinations for alternative tourism in our country and is located 25 km west of Karditsa in a beautiful environment at an altitude of 1100 meters.

This is an artificial lake created in 1959 with the completion of the dam on the river Tavropos (or Megdova). The name stems from the military and civilian Nicholas Plastiras, whose idea was the creation of the lake. Although it is artificial, the lake gradually developed its own ecosystem, with dozens of species of fish in its waters and very interesting flora and fauna includes foxes, wolves, badgers, etc., and many species of birds such as whooper swans, cormorants, herons, etc.

Plastira Lake is the ideal place for rest and relaxation all year round and offers idyllic pictures apart from many notable places worth visiting, such as the Botanical Garden of Neochori Dam, the observatory in place Mandra, and the arch the Anthohori. The area is very organized tourist infrastructure with hotels, taverns and shops in quaint villages.
